X10
All prices include VAT and are per device.
X10 is a superb way of controlling electrical
devices around your property from your security system - with NO EXTRA
WIRING OR FUSS.
An X10 control device is linked to the security
system that transmits commands to the various X10 module to switch on or
off. The signals are transmitted down your existing electrical wiring so
no need for direct connection to the security system. And if you are
using plug-in modules, you can immediately relocate points simply by
unplugging the device from one area and plugging it back in in another.
One of the things I like most about X10 is that the
control modules have no effect on the daily operation of the device they
are linked to. For example if we wire a light module into your existing
external security lights, you will still be able to operate the lights
manually no matter what the security system does (i.e. the security
system turns the lights on, but you can still switch them off as normal
via your light switch).
Connecting lighting and other items to the security
system can provide you with numerous advantages. For example if you use
the security system to control lighting, the system can operate the
points at scheduled times to give the impression a property is occupied
or to save power. And if a intrusion attempt occurs the alarm can
activate points to scare off crooks. Different points might then
activate in response to other conditions, such as your hall way lights
coming on following a fire activation to illuminate escape routes.
Many of the X10 devices require little or no
fitting work, they simply plug in. However some items require
installation - please phone for costs.

Plug In Lamp Module The
plug in modules are simplicity itself! All you do is plug the module
into your electrical outlet, then plug the item to be controlled into
the module (a bit like a timer switch).
Please note, if you
want the security system to control the item, the item must be left in
the on position so that the X10 can control it by switching power on or
off. |

Wire In Lamp Module
Wire in lamp modules are generally used to
control lights that a plug in module cannot be connected to. For example
they are used to control external lighting or above ceilings to operate
room lights. Depending on the location, some form of protective box
might be required to protect the controller / cable connections (e.g.
external installations). |

Wire In Appliance
Module Wire
in appliance modules are used to control lights or appliances that have
a larger load to that of a standard lamp module. Again these are used in
areas that a plug in module cannot be connected to. Depending on the
location it is to be installed, some form of protective box might be
required to protect the controller / cable connections (e.g. external
installations). |

Screw In Lamp Holder
Simply screw in this controller to your
light fitting, then connect the bulb to it. That light can now be
controlled by the security system (light must be in the on position for
the security system control to work). |

Bayonet Lamp Holder
Same as above but for bayonet type light
bulbs. |

Back Box Mounted
Module The
back box module is inserted into the back of a standard single gang box
before the switch, spur or socket front is put on (might require the box
to be recessed further). Once fitted the point can be controlled
manually or via the security system. |

Low Voltage Switch
This module is designed to switch low
voltage items - such as electric garage doors or gates. |

Interference Filter/3
Phase Coupler The
signal transmission of high frequency pulses via the mains network can
be affected by active or passive interferences. When used, the
filter/phase coupler will extensively suppress these interferences.
Typical active
interference sources are appliances that do not dispose of a regular
interference suppression according to the norms, as well as wireless
intercom systems which use mains borne signalling, as they transmit high
frequency signal as interference into the mains network. These
disturbances are usually carried into the property network from the
outside, e.g. From neighbours or industrial installations. They are
suppressed by the filter/coupler. Remaining interferences generated
within the house network are without significance as the special dynamic
filtering techniques of the X10 system ensure undisturbed performance.
The unit also includes
the ability to couple X10 signals across 3 phases.
